Midstates Investigations and Technical Services (MITS) is a Wisconsin Corporation specializing in the investigation of fires, consulting on fire investigation and analysis of SIU operations for insurers.  MITS is a Wisconsin licensed Private Investigation Agency. The company also specializes in the investigation of other insurance claims primarily in P/C lines.　We collect and preserve physical, documentary and witness testimonial evidence in support of claims and litigation services. In addition, MITS will provide consulting services to the industry and litigation support with regard to the formation and functioning of insurance Special Investigation Units (SIU’s). MITS will provide training to the industry in insurance fraud identification and will provide outsource SIU services for the investigation of insurance fraud.

Insurance fraud is believed to be involved in as much as 10% to 20% of insurance claims. In addition to arson and fraud, fire investigators find evidence of negligence in manufacture, installation and repair of equipment and vehicles. Subrogation is a major function of fire investigation. Without evidence, however, the claims and litigation services are unable to support their decisions or proceed with subrogation or denials and the claims are paid with little chance of recovery. MITS is highly experienced in the investigation of insurance claims to document the facts in support of payment, denial, subrogation or litigation.
